Solys Community Guidelines
The handful of things that keep Solys feeling like Solys.
Last updated: October 24, 2026
Solys exists because the rest of social media ran out of ways to make you feel bad about your own life. Here's the short version: treat everyone the way you'd want your own Hard Thing treated, like there's an actual human on the other end. Because there is.
These guidelines are part of our Terms of Use and apply to everything on Solys: posts, comments, Rally Messages, messages, profiles, Circles, Mission answers, Sparks, gift badges and Luminary content. They apply to everyone equally, including Luminaries, businesses and the Solys founders.
1. Come as yourself
- Use your real name and a real photo of yourself. One personal account per person.
- ✅ A nickname your friends actually call you. A clearly labeled parody account ("Parody" in the name and bio).
- ❌ Catfishing, pretending to be someone else, fake "totally real" accounts, or buying, selling or sharing accounts.
2. Hard Things are welcome. Other people aren't targets.
Posting your own struggle, a bad day or something you're carrying is exactly what Solys is for. Post it fully.
- ✅ Venting about your boss without naming them. Talking about your recovery. Disagreeing hard with an idea, a policy or a decision.
- ❌ Going after a specific person or group: insulting them, mocking how they look, wishing harm on them, or trying to "take them down a peg." That covers strangers, exes, celebrities, athletes and politicians too.
- Friends teasing friends in a private Circle is everyday life. It becomes an attack when it turns cruel: about someone's body, family, trauma or insecurities, when the person asks you to stop, or when it keeps happening.
3. Disagree with ideas. Don't bash groups or bait rage.
- ✅ "I think this policy will hurt small businesses, and here's what would fix it."
- ❌ Posts built to make people angry at a group: "[Group] are ruining everything." Clickbait outrage, blaming a whole group, or posts whose point is the fight.
- We judge the form of a post, never which side it's on.
4. Say it like they're sitting across from you. If you wouldn't say it to someone's face, don't post it.
5. No harassment, threats, pile-ons or doxxing
- ❌ Threats of violence, even as "jokes."
- ❌ Repeatedly contacting someone who has blocked you or asked you to stop.
- ❌ Organizing others to target a person, on or off Solys.
- ❌ Sharing someone's private information: home address, phone, workplace, private photos or private messages.
- ❌ Telling someone to hurt themselves.
6. No hate. We don't allow attacking or demeaning people for their race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, serious illness or age. Slurs used to attack are never OK, and "just a joke" doesn't cover hate.
7. Talking about self-harm, suicide and eating disorders
- ✅ Sharing that you're struggling, your recovery story, or how you got help. Supporting someone who's struggling. We'll never remove a post just because it's sad, dark or difficult.
- ❌ Methods, instructions, or "tips." Graphic images of self-injury. Encouraging or glorifying self-harm or disordered eating. Diet or "coaching" content that pushes extreme restriction. Mocking someone who is struggling.
- If you're worried about someone, report the post. A person on our team will look at it, and we never tell anyone who reported them.
- If you're in danger right now, call 911. For thoughts of suicide, call or text 988. The "Need support?" screen in Settings is always available.
8. Bodies, fitness and sexual content
- ✅ Sweat, sports bras, six-packs, medals, post-workout selfies, body-pride posts, breastfeeding, and medical or educational content.
- ❌ Nudity and sexual content, even with a fitness caption. Sexual messages to anyone who didn't ask for them.
9. Never: these mean an immediate, permanent ban
- Anything that sexualizes, exploits or endangers a minor, including "fictional," drawn or AI-made content. We report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and law enforcement.
- Contacting a minor for sexual purposes (grooming), or pressuring anyone for sexual images (sextortion).
- Sharing or threatening to share intimate images without consent, including AI-made or "deepfake" images. The person shown, or someone authorized to act for them, can request removal at solysapp.com/report-content, with or without a Solys account.
- Credible threats to kill or seriously hurt someone. Promoting terrorism or violent extremism.
- Selling drugs, weapons or people.
10. Be honest: no scams, spam or fake engagement
- ❌ Scams, phishing, fake giveaways, or spam.
- ❌ Fake accounts, or buying or selling likes, Beacons or Rally Score.
- ❌ Gaming points or ranks with bots or coordinated accounts.
- ❌ Misleading health claims ("this cures anxiety"), or selling medical treatments.
11. Money, Luminaries and The Market
- Paid, sponsored, gifted or affiliate content must be clearly labeled (FTC Endorsement Guides). Luminaries and businesses follow our Creator & Business Terms too.
- ❌ No gift-baiting: don't pressure anyone to send Spark, gift badges or money, and don't trade attention for gifts.
- ❌ Never use gifts, badges or money to contact or influence a teen.
12. Respect other people's work. Post only what you have the right to share. Copyright complaints go to solysapp.com/copyright.
13. Protect your Circle and your Vault
- What's shared in a private Circle stays there. Don't screenshot and repost someone's Hard Thing or Rally Message without their OK.
- The Vault holds support that mattered to someone. Treat it that way.
What we allow even if it's uncomfortable
- News and education about public issues.
- Clearly labeled satire.
- Criticism of a public figure's actions or ideas, as long as it doesn't become harassment.
- Your own story, told your way.
Your tools
- Block anyone, any time, no explanation needed.
- Report any post, comment, message, profile, Circle, Spark or badge.
- Leave any Circle.
- Never retaliate; report instead.
What happens if you break a rule. See our Moderation & Enforcement Policy at solysapp.com/moderation. It covers how we review, what we do, how strikes work and expire, and how to appeal.
