Solys Moderation & Enforcement Policy
Last updated: October 24, 2026
This explains how we review content and enforce our Terms of Use and Community Guidelines. It applies to every user equally, including Luminaries, businesses and the Solys founders.
1. How content gets reviewed
- Your reports. Every post, comment, Rally Message, message, profile, Circle, Spark and badge has Report and Block. Every report goes to a real person on our team.
- Automated help.
- An AI tool (from Anthropic) reviews new text posts and comments and flags possible rule-breaking for a person to look at.
- It can be wrong, it can miss things, and it does not yet review photos, video or voice.
- It never removes content or acts on accounts by itself. A person makes every enforcement decision.
- Our own review. We may also review content when we see a problem or the law requires it.
2. How fast we act
These are our targets. We're a small team, and we'll tell you if something takes longer.
3. What we may do (lightest to heaviest)
- No action
- A warning
- Hide or remove the content
- Limit some features for a set time
- Suspend the account for a set time
- Permanently ban the account (and any new accounts made to get around it)
We pick the lightest action that fixes the problem, unless the violation is severe.
4. Strikes: how they add up and when they expire
- A removal for breaking a rule counts as 1 strike. A warning is not a strike.
- Standard strikes expire after 90 days. Strikes for severe violations (threats, hate, sexual harassment, doxxing) last 1 year.
- With active strikes:
- 2 strikes: a feature limit of up to 7 days.
- 3 strikes: suspension of up to 30 days.
- 4 or more: we may permanently ban the account.
- Zero tolerance: any violation in Community Guidelines §9 means an immediate permanent ban, no strikes needed:
- child sexual exploitation;
- grooming;
- sextortion;
- non-consensual intimate images;
- credible threats to life;
- violent extremism;
- selling drugs, weapons or people.
- Copyright: 3 valid copyright notices in 12 months ends the account (solysapp.com/copyright).
5. What we tell you. When we act on your content or account, we tell you:
- what content it was;
- what we did, and for how long;
- which rule it broke;
- whether automated tools helped flag it;
- how to appeal.
We don't give details when telling you could put someone in danger, would interfere with a child-safety or law-enforcement investigation, or the law forbids it. We never tell anyone who reported them.
6. Appeals
- Tap Appeal on the notice, or email support@solysapp.com within 30 days. Add anything you want us to consider.
- A team member who didn't make the original decision reviews it whenever possible.
- We aim to answer within 7 days, with our reasoning. If we got it wrong, we restore your content or account and remove the strike.
- One appeal per decision. If someone files many clearly baseless appeals, we may stop reviewing their appeals for up to a year.
- There is no appeal from a ban for child sexual exploitation.
7. Crisis and safety
- We never remove content just because it's sad, dark or difficult.
- If a person on our team sees a credible, immediate threat to someone's life, we may contact emergency services. (The optional automated crisis-support check never alerts anyone. It only shows you resources.)
- Every user can open Need support? in Settings at any time.
- Optional crisis support: see solysapp.com/crisis-support.
8. Evidence and the law
- We keep moderation records for 2 years so appeals and investigations are fair.
- We report child sexual abuse material to NCMEC and keep what federal law requires us to keep.
- We respond to valid legal process as described at solysapp.com/law-enforcement.
9. Transparency. Once a year we publish a summary of reports received, actions taken, appeals and outcomes, and legal requests.
